History
Acquired by the Sertão Group in 1979, the farm was already cultivating crops and producing coffee. However, in the subsequent years, the farm expanded its cultivation areas, erected new concrete patios, and invested in coffee processing equipment. Nestled in the southern region of Minas Gerais atop the Mantiqueira Mountains in Carmo de Minas municipality, it sits just 3 km from Olímpio de Noronha city and 25 km from Carmo de Minas.
The Sertão Group maintains a strong commitment to environmental preservation, prioritising the conservation of vast swathes of native forest and the protection of all springs and streams within their riparian zones. Santa Inês Farm is home to 35 registered employees and approximately 80 residents in total. Thirteen families reside in farm-provided housing, complete with essential amenities such as water, electricity, and sewage facilities, while the rest live in Olímpio de Noronha City, a short distance from the farm. In addition to their salaries, all families receive supplementary provisions
including milk, coffee, and medicine.
